How to Size : AK Training Fins
AK Training Fins foot cavity and foot length measurement guide

Use your EU or UK shoe size to find your size. The foot cavity measurement is the internal length of the fin's foot pocket and is provided as a secondary check for those between sizes.

  1. 1
Match your usual EU or UK shoe size to the size table below. EU size is the primary reference; UK equivalents are shown alongside.
  2. 2
The foot cavity is the internal length of the fin's foot pocket. If between shoe sizes, compare your foot length to the foot cavity to confirm the better fit.
  3. 3
If your measurement falls between two sizes, size up for a more comfortable fit. The short blade silicone construction means a slightly larger size will still perform well without compromising the training benefit.

Fit Notes : AK Training Fins
  • Size using your EU shoe size as the primary reference, with UK equivalents shown alongside. If your shoe size falls between two ranges, use the foot cavity measurement to confirm the better fit, or size up for comfort.
  • Made from 100% high-grade silicone, the fins have a soft, flexible construction that eases slightly with wear. A snug fit when first putting them on is normal.
  • The short blade design promotes ankle flexibility and a faster kick cadence that more closely mirrors natural swimming technique, making them well suited to technique development and conditioning sets.
  • The fin should fit snugly around the foot with the foot seated fully into the foot pocket. If the heel is lifting during kicking, try the next size down.
  • Suitable for regular training use at all levels, from junior swimmers through to adult fitness swimmers.
  • Rinse in fresh water after every session and allow to dry naturally away from direct sunlight and sharp objects.

Frequently Asked Questions : AK Training Fins

Match your EU or UK shoe size to the size table above. EU size is the primary reference. If your shoe size falls between two ranges, compare your foot length to the foot cavity measurement to find the closer fit. If still between sizes, size up.

The foot cavity is the internal length of the fin's foot pocket in centimetres. Measure your foot from heel to toe and compare it to the foot cavity column. Your foot length should be equal to or slightly shorter than the foot cavity for a snug but comfortable fit.

Short blade fins promote ankle flexibility and a faster kick cadence that more closely mirrors natural swimming technique compared to longer bladed fins. They are well suited to technique development sets and conditioning work, and are generally more comfortable for extended use than long blade fins.

Yes. The smallest size covers EU 31 to 32 (UK 12 to 1), making them suitable for younger swimmers with smaller feet. Always size by EU or UK shoe size rather than age, as foot size varies considerably between children of the same age.

Size up. A fin that is too small will restrict ankle movement and can be uncomfortable during training. The silicone material has a degree of natural flex and a slightly larger size will still sit securely on the foot without compromising the training benefit.

Both fins are made from 100% silicone with a short blade design. The AK Training Fins are part of the AK Essentials range and offer an affordable entry-level option for regular training use. The AK Pro Training Fins have an open fin design that allows better water flow through the blade, making them more suited to technique-focused and endurance-specific training sets. Both are suitable for swimmers at all levels.

The AK Training Fins are designed for pool training use. They can be used in open water but provide less propulsion in open conditions than in a pool. Rinse thoroughly in fresh water after any sea or open water use to remove salt and debris.

Rinse in cold fresh water after every session to remove chlorine and debris. Allow to dry naturally away from direct sunlight. Store flat or hanging away from sharp objects to maintain the fin's shape over time.
