The Arena Powerfin Pro is the fin competitive swimmers have been waiting for. Featuring an inclined short blade for maximum forward thrust and high-frequency kick, and an open heel for maximum ankle flexibility, the Powerfin Pro allows you to swim with a faster leg kick and better control. The hydrodynamic design enables faster upward motion and a more powerful downward leg kick.
Training with Powerfin Pros during vertical kick sets will help improve your underwater phase, body position, and leg kick technique. Made from 100% silicone and completely PVC free — ideal for competitive swimmers. Available in six sizes covering EU 36–47.
Shop Arena Swim Fins →Arena Powerfin Pro fins are sized by international shoe size (EU equivalent) and foot length in millimetres. The size chart below also includes USA, UK, and AUS shoe size equivalents as a secondary guide — however, foot length is the most reliable measurement for fin sizing as shoe construction varies considerably between brands and styles.
The Powerfin Pro has an open heel design, which provides excellent ankle flexibility and suits a wider range of foot shapes than closed-heel fins. If your foot length falls between two sizes, size up for a more comfortable fit and to avoid restriction during training.
Tip: to test your fin size, sit on a chair, extend your legs and flex your ankle and foot out — this is your swimming position. Fins are not shoes, so standing in them will not give an accurate size test.
Measure your foot length to find the correct fin size. Do not rely on shoe size alone — always measure foot length for the most accurate fit.

Fin sizes shown are international (EU equivalent). Shoe size is a secondary guide only — always use foot length for the most accurate fit. If you are between sizes, size up. Foot cavity dimensions show the internal length and width of the fin pocket.
The Powerfin Pro features an open heel design for maximum ankle flexibility. Follow these steps to put them on correctly and avoid overstretching the silicone.
Arena Powerfin Pro fins are made from 100% silicone and are PVC free. Avoid walking on rough pool surrounds or abrasive surfaces, which can accelerate wear on the silicone blade.
Measure your foot length in millimetres — stand on paper with your toe against a wall, mark the end of your heel, and measure from the wall to that mark. Use this measurement to find your size in the table above. Shoe size is a secondary guide only, as construction varies between brands. If you fall between sizes, choose the larger size.
Always size up if your foot length falls between two sizes. Fins that are too tight restrict ankle movement and can cause discomfort during training. The silicone material will bed in slightly with use and conform to the shape of your foot over time. Speak to a member of staff at Allens if you are unsure.
The open heel means there is no closed pocket around the back of the foot — instead, a strap sits in the achilles arch. This allows the ankle to flex freely in both directions, enabling a faster upward kick recovery and a more powerful downward kick. It is the design preferred by competitive swimmers who prioritise ankle flexibility and kick frequency over the security of a closed heel.
The Powerfin Pro is designed for competitive swimmers and is best suited to those with an established kick technique. Beginners can use them, but should introduce fins gradually — start with short sets and focus on maintaining good ankle flexibility rather than simply going faster. The inclined short blade generates high resistance, so build up volume slowly to avoid placing excessive strain on the ankles and knees.
The Powerfin Pro excels in high-frequency kick drills, sprint kick sets, and vertical kick work. They are particularly effective for training the underwater dolphin kick and improving the underwater phase off turns and starts. Use them with pull sets to isolate the kick, or for full-stroke sprint sets where a fast leg kick is the focus.
Yes. The Powerfin Pro is well suited to butterfly kick work due to the open heel's ankle flexibility and the short blade's resistance profile. They are also effective for backstroke kick sets. For breaststroke, fins are generally not used due to the different kick action.
Rinse the fins thoroughly in cold fresh water after every use to remove chlorine and salt. Allow to dry naturally away from direct sunlight. Store flat in a cool, dry place away from sharp objects. Do not fold or crease the blade during storage. The 100% silicone construction is durable and PVC free, but avoid walking on rough pool surrounds or abrasive surfaces which can damage the blade over time.
The Powerfin Pro is Arena's competition-focused short blade fin, designed specifically for high-frequency kick training and underwater phase development. Its inclined blade and open heel set it apart from general fitness fins, which typically have a longer blade and closed heel. If you are a competitive swimmer focused on kick speed and underwater performance, the Powerfin Pro is the right choice. Speak to a member of staff at Allens if you would like help comparing models.
