The AMANZI Hand Paddles (AM47) are designed to provide swimmers with a large surface area to push through the water, creating more resistance, speed, and power. The flat design controls the water during the pull and catch phase, while strategically placed flow holes allow the swimmer to feel the natural flow of the water. Raised pads on the palm support the hand's natural position and enhance feel for the water. Multiple strap positions provide a range of fitting options to suit swimmers of all experience levels.
Available in three sizes — Small, Medium, and Large — with silicone straps included. Straps can be mixed, matched, or replaced with hand paddle strap kits sold separately. Comes in a mesh carry bag. Paddle material: Polypropylene (PP).

Select your size based on hand size and training goal. For technique and feel, choose a paddle that closely matches your hand. For strength and resistance, a larger paddle increases workload. Speak to a member of staff at Allens if you are unsure.
Choose based on hand size and training goal. The Small (17×14.5cm) suits junior swimmers, smaller hands, or those focusing on technique and feel. The Medium (21×17.5cm) suits most adult swimmers for all-round training. The Large (24×20cm) is suited to adult swimmers with larger hands or those focusing on strength and power. Speak to a member of staff at Allens if you are unsure.
The strategically placed flow holes allow water to pass through the paddle surface, giving a more natural feel of the water during the pull and catch phase of the stroke. This helps swimmers maintain awareness of their hand position and pressure through the water, making the paddles useful for both technique development and resistance training.
Yes. The AMANZI Hand Paddles come with silicone straps, but these can be replaced or mixed and matched using AMANZI hand paddle strap kits sold separately. This allows you to customise your paddles or replace straps that have worn out over time.
Yes, but beginners should introduce paddles gradually. Start with the Small size and shorter sets — 4×50m is a good starting point — and build volume over time as your shoulders adapt to the increased resistance. The multiple strap positions allow a more relaxed fit which can be helpful for beginners getting used to paddle training.
Using paddles with a pull buoy is the most common and effective approach. The pull buoy supports the legs and isolates the upper body, allowing you to focus entirely on the pull and catch. This combination maximises the benefit of paddle sets for both technique development and upper body strength building.
AMANZI hand paddles are most commonly used for front crawl and backstroke pull sets. They can also be used for butterfly, though the increased resistance makes this very demanding. They are not suitable for breaststroke due to the different arm action. For best results, use paddles with pull sets in front crawl to develop feel, power, and technique.
Paddles increase the load on the shoulders, so too much volume too quickly or poor technique can lead to discomfort. Always introduce paddles gradually, use a size appropriate to your strength and experience level, and avoid paddle sets if you have an existing shoulder injury or are experiencing pain. If in doubt, consult a coach or medical professional before incorporating paddles into your training.
Rinse the paddles and silicone straps in fresh water after every use to remove chlorine and salt. Allow to dry naturally and store in the included mesh carry bag away from direct sunlight. The polypropylene paddle body is durable and chlorine resistant. Avoid bending or twisting the paddle body during storage.
