Size chart

This size guide covers TYR women's adult swimwear, available in sizes 26–42 (US sizes XS 0/2 through 2X). TYR designs performance swimwear engineered for competitive and fitness swimmers, with a focus on durability, fit, and performance in the water. All measurements are body measurements taken directly from your body, not garment measurements. TYR's sizing system uses its own numeric scale — always use your body measurements rather than your usual clothing size to find the correct fit.

TYR women's swimwear is sized using four key body measurements: Chest, Waist, Hip, and Torso. The chest measurement is the primary guide. US size equivalents are shown in the sizing table as a secondary reference only — always prioritise body measurements. All measurements in TYR's original sizing chart are in inches; centimetre equivalents are also provided below.

How to Measure

Use a soft measuring tape and take all measurements directly against your skin. All measurements are body measurements, not garment measurements. Use your chest measurement as the primary guide when selecting your TYR size.

  • A
ChestMeasure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape horizontal and snug but not tight.
  • B
WaistMeasure at the narrowest part of your natural waist, keeping the tape level all the way around.
  • C
HipMeasure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, keeping the tape horizontal.
  • D
TorsoMeasure from the top of your shoulder, down the front of the body, under the crotch, and back up to the same shoulder point.

Note: If your measurements fall across different size brackets, use your chest measurement as the primary guide. All measurements are body measurements, not garment measurements.

Fit Notes — TYR Women's Swimwear
  • Always use your chest measurement as the primary guide when selecting your TYR size. TYR uses its own numeric sizing system (26–42) which does not correspond directly to standard UK dress sizes — always use body measurements.
  • TYR swimwear is engineered for a close, performance fit — the suit will feel firm when first tried on. Do not size up based on initial tightness; the fabric eases slightly with wear.
  • The suit should feel secure and smooth across the chest and back with no gaping at the straps, pulling across the bust, or riding up at the legs.
  • The Torso measurement is particularly important for one-piece swimsuits — if your torso measurement is at the top end of a size bracket, this can indicate the suit may feel short in the body. In this case, try the next size up and compare torso measurements.
  • If your chest and hip measurements suggest different sizes, size to your chest and check that your hip falls within or close to that size's hip range. Speak to a member of staff at Allens if you are between sizes.
  • TYR swimsuits are constructed from high-durability chlorine-resistant fabrics designed to retain their shape and colour over extended training use.
  • Rinse in cold fresh water immediately after every use to remove chlorine, salt, and sunscreen. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, iron, or dry-clean.
  • Store flat and dry, away from direct sunlight, to preserve the fabric's elasticity and colour.

Frequently Asked Questions — TYR Women's Swimwear Sizing

Take four body measurements — chest, waist, hip, and torso — using a soft tape measure against your skin. Use your chest measurement as the primary guide and compare to the sizing table above. TYR uses its own numeric sizing system (26–42) which does not correspond directly to standard UK or US clothing sizes, so always use body measurements rather than your usual size.

The torso measurement is taken from the top of one shoulder, down the front of the body, under the crotch, and back up to the same shoulder. For one-piece swimsuits, this is an important measurement as it determines how the suit fits through the body length. If your torso sits at the top end of a size bracket, the suit may feel short in the body — in this case, try the next size up and compare torso ranges.

Use your chest measurement as the primary guide. If your chest sits between two sizes, consider your torso measurement as a secondary guide for one-piece suits. Speak to a member of staff at Allens Swimwear for personalised advice — we're happy to help you find the right TYR size before you buy.

TYR swimwear uses its own numeric sizing system (26–42) which does not directly correspond to UK dress sizes. US size equivalents are shown in the sizing table above as a secondary reference, but these should not be relied upon in place of body measurements. Always measure your chest, waist, hip, and torso and compare to the sizing table to find the correct TYR size.

TYR produces both training and competition swimwear. Their standard women's swimsuits are designed for performance training and fitness swimming, with chlorine-resistant fabrics built for regular pool use. TYR also produces a range of competition racing suits approved for sanctioned competitive events. Speak to a member of staff at Allens for guidance on the right TYR product for your level and purpose.

TYR sizes 28 and 30 both correspond to US S 4/6, and sizes 32 and 34 both correspond to US M 8. This reflects the fact that TYR's numeric sizing offers more granularity than standard US clothing sizes within the same general size range. Always use your body measurements — chest, waist, hip, and torso — to determine whether size 28 or 30, or 32 or 34, is the better fit for you.

TYR swimwear is designed for a close, performance fit and the fabrics ease slightly with wear. If you are between sizes on chest, size down and check the suit feels secure but not uncomfortably tight. If your torso measurement is at the upper end of the smaller size, sizing up may give a more comfortable body length. Speak to a member of staff at Allens if you are unsure.

TYR's original sizing chart lists all measurements in inches. Centimetre equivalents have been calculated and are available in the sizing table above — simply toggle between inches and cm using the button above the table. Both sets of values are body measurements taken directly from your body, not garment measurements.

Rinse your TYR swimsuit thoroughly in cold fresh water immediately after every use to remove chlorine, salt, and sunscreen. Hand wash gently with a mild detergent if needed. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, iron, or dry-clean. Store the suit flat and dry, away from direct sunlight, to preserve the fabric's elasticity and colour over time.

TYR swimsuits are primarily designed for pool use. While the chlorine-resistant fabrics will tolerate occasional use in open water or the sea, prolonged exposure to salt water can accelerate fabric degradation. Always rinse the suit thoroughly in fresh water after every use. For dedicated open water or triathlon swimming, a purpose-built open water suit or wetsuit is recommended.
