Competition racing jammers need to seat correctly over the hips before the waistband can sit flat. If the suit is too small in the hip, it will be extremely difficult to pull on and may cause discomfort or restrict movement during racing. TYR explicitly recommend using the hip measurement as the primary guide when between sizes on their competition suits.

These are elite competition suits and are not designed for regular training use. Using them for training will significantly reduce their lifespan and degrade the performance properties of the fabric. Allow at least 15–20 minutes to put on an elite competition racing jammer correctly for the first time. Work the suit up gradually from the ankles, smoothing out any wrinkles as you go. Take great care with fingernails — avoid pulling hard on the fabric. The suit should be completely wrinkle-free and smooth when correctly fitted. Do not use oils, sun cream, or petroleum-based products before putting on the suit.

Rinse the suit thoroughly in cold fresh water immediately after every use to remove chlorine and salt. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, iron, or dry-clean. Store flat and dry, away from direct sunlight. Avoid contact with sun cream, oils, or petroleum-based products as these degrade the fabric's performance properties. Careful handling after each use is essential to protect the suit's lifespan.
