Description
xThe Thresher’s Embedded Hydrophobic Fabric is a water-repellent technology built into the fabric fibres themselves, not a surface coating that degrades over time. It actively repels water from the suit during the race, reducing weight and drag while maintaining compression from the first stroke to the last.
Targeted compression panels across the core and key muscle groups help maintain an optimal, streamlined body position throughout the race. By supporting the muscles that keep your hips high and your stroke efficient, the Thresher helps you hold your technique even in the closing stages of a hard race.
Flatlock seams lie flat against the skin and conform to the body’s contours without bunching or raised ridges. This eliminates friction and pressure points during racing and contributes to the sleek, body-conforming profile the Thresher Cryo is designed to achieve in the water.
Not sure on sizing? See our TYR Mens Thresher, Tracer & Fusion 2 Size Guide or contact our team. Race suits are designed to fit significantly tighter than training suits.

All measurements are body measurements, not garment measurements. If you are between sizes, use your hip measurement as the primary guide. For further guidance view our full TYR Mens Thresher, Tracer & Fusion 2 Size Guide or contact our team.
A racing jammer such as the Thresher Cryo uses performance fabric technology including water-repellent fibres, targeted compression panels and flatlock seam construction that are not present in training jammers. The fit is also significantly tighter to maximise compression and minimise drag. Training jammers like the Durafast Elite are built for durability across hundreds of pool sessions. A racing jammer is built for peak performance on race day.
Racing tech suits are designed to fit significantly tighter than training suits. The Thresher Cryo should feel noticeably more compressive than your training jammer and may take some effort to put on correctly. This compression is intentional and contributes directly to performance. If the suit feels comfortable immediately, it is likely too large.
Use your hip measurement as the primary guide when sizing the Thresher Cryo. Compare against our TYR Mens Thresher, Tracer & Fusion 2 Size Guide. Many competitive swimmers size down from their training suit. If you are between sizes or unsure, our team are happy to advise on the best choice for your event and body type.
Rinse thoroughly in cool fresh water immediately after every use. Do not use detergents or cleaning products on race suits. Air dry away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not machine wash, tumble dry or wring. Avoid sitting on rough pool surfaces in the suit. See our full product aftercare guide for details.

Allens Swimwear is a family-run business founded in 1976 by Dennis Allen and his daughter Linda Beal. It started from a genuine need. “With 2 swimmers in the family it was often difficult to find the right kit, so dad and I took the plunge and started selling to local swimmers at our local pool in Kingsbury out of a suitcase and we’ve never looked back.” Today, Linda, her husband Richard, and three of their children Danny, Will and Jenna still run the business together. The suitcase may be long gone, but the founding principle of helping swimmers get the right kit remains exactly the same.

Size chart
This size guide covers the TYR Thresher, Tracer and Fusion 2 racing jammers — Men's, available in sizes 18–40. These are TYR's performance competition racing jammers, engineered for competitive swimmers at club, county, regional and national level. All measurements are body measurements taken directly from your body, not garment measurements.
TYR competition racing jammers are sized using two key body measurements: Waist and Hip. If you are between sizes, use your hip measurement as the primary guide. Always use body measurements rather than your usual clothing size — TYR's numeric sizing does not correspond directly to standard UK sizes.

All measurements are body measurements, not garment measurements. If you are between sizes, use your hip measurement as the primary guide.
Watch our step-by-step guide to taking accurate body measurements for the perfect TYR racing jammer fit.
Take two body measurements — waist and hip — using a soft tape measure against your skin. Compare to the sizing table above. If your measurements fall between two sizes, use your hip measurement as the primary guide. TYR's numeric sizing does not correspond directly to standard UK clothing sizes, so always use body measurements.
Competition racing jammers need to seat correctly over the hips before the waistband can sit flat. If the suit is too small in the hip, it will be extremely difficult to pull on and may cause discomfort or restrict movement during racing. TYR explicitly recommend using the hip measurement as the primary guide when between sizes on their competition racing suits.
TYR competition racing jammers are designed for a close, compressive fit and will feel significantly tighter than a training jammer. This is intentional — the compression is engineered to support the muscles and reduce drag during racing. The suit should feel firm and snug throughout but should not restrict breathing, movement, or blood flow. Allow 10–15 minutes to put the suit on correctly for the first time.
The Thresher, Tracer and Fusion 2 share the same sizing chart and are all competition racing jammers from TYR's performance range. They differ in fabric technology, compression level, and price point. Speak to a member of staff at Allens Swimwear for guidance on which TYR racing jammer is best suited to your level and budget.
TYR racing jammers are not designed for regular training use. Using them for training will significantly reduce their lifespan and degrade the performance properties of the fabric. Reserve your racing jammer for competitions and competition warm-ups. TYR offer a range of training jammers designed for everyday pool use — speak to a member of staff at Allens for recommendations.
TYR produces a range of competition racing jammers approved for use in sanctioned competitive swimming events. Always check with your event organiser or governing body to confirm that the specific TYR jammer you have purchased is approved for the level of competition you are entering, as approval status can vary by product and event.
If you are between sizes, use your hip measurement to determine which size to select. Competition racing jammers are designed for a very close fit, so if your hip sits at the top end of the smaller size, selecting the larger size will ensure the suit can be put on correctly and will sit flat without excessive tension. Speak to a member of staff at Allens if you are unsure.
Allow at least 10–15 minutes to put on a competition racing jammer correctly for the first time. Work the suit up gradually from the ankles, smoothing out any wrinkles as you go. Take care with fingernails — avoid pulling hard on the fabric. The suit should be completely wrinkle-free and smooth when correctly fitted. Do not use petroleum-based products, oils, or sun cream before putting on the suit.
Rinse your TYR racing jammer thoroughly in cold fresh water immediately after every use to remove chlorine and salt. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, iron, or dry-clean. Store flat and dry, away from direct sunlight. Avoid contact with sun cream, oils, or petroleum-based products as these degrade the fabric's performance properties.
TYR's original sizing chart lists all measurements in inches. Centimetre equivalents are available in the sizing table above — simply toggle between inches and cm using the button above the table. Both sets of values are body measurements taken directly from your body, not garment measurements.
