Arena Powerskin Air3 Womens Size Guide

This size guide covers the Arena Powerskin Air 3 Women's Open-Back Kneeskin — the newest member of the most popular elite racing suit family in arena history. Born from the same iconic Carbon shell fabric athletes have trusted for over a decade, the Air 3 adds four major upgrades: FLEXMAX shoulder straps, an upgraded hydrophobic lining, new leg-lifting internal taping construction, and enhanced sizing with Long-Torso options (24L, 26L, 28L). World Aquatics (FINA) approved.

All measurements are body measurements taken directly from your body. Use your Torso Loop (D) as the primary sizing guide. Long-Torso sizes share the same chest, waist, and hip measurements as their standard equivalent but offer additional torso length — ideal if kneeskins typically pull at your shoulders or feel short in the body.

How to Measure

Take all measurements directly against your skin using a soft tape measure. Use the Torso Loop (D) as the primary sizing guide — this determines how the suit sits across the shoulders and through the body. If you are considering a Long-Torso size, compare your torso loop measurement to both the standard and L column.

  • A
ChestMeasure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape horizontal and snug but not tight.
  • B
WaistMeasure at the narrowest part of your natural waist.
  • C
HipMeasure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, keeping the tape horizontal.
  • D
Torso LoopMeasure over one shoulder, down the front, under the crotch and back up to the same shoulder. This is the primary sizing measurement.

If measurements fall between sizes, use the Torso Loop as the primary guide. Long-Torso (L) sizes share the same chest, waist and hip as the standard equivalent but have a longer torso. Speak to a member of staff at Allens if you are unsure.

Fit Notes — Arena Powerskin Air 3 Women's
  • Use the Torso Loop (D) as the primary sizing guide — this determines how the suit sits across the shoulders and through the body.
  • The Air 3 now includes Long-Torso sizes (24L, 26L, 28L). If standard kneeskins typically pull at your shoulders or feel short in the body, a Long-Torso size will provide a near-custom fit. Chest, waist and hip measurements are identical to the standard equivalent — only the torso loop is longer.
  • The FLEXMAX shoulder straps adapt to the body and should lie flat with no pulling, rubbing or pressure points. They are notably easier to get on than previous Arena kneeskin designs.
  • The Carbon shell fabric (113 g/m²) provides an ultra-light second-skin feel — firm and energising without the extreme compression of the Primo. The suit should feel supportive and wearable across a full competition day.
  • The leg-lifting internal taping should feel like it is actively lifting the legs and hips — if any taping feels twisted or uncomfortable, check your size against the table above.
  • The suit should be completely wrinkle-free when correctly fitted — any bunching or gathering indicates the suit is too large.
  • Allow 10–15 minutes to put on correctly for the first time. Take care with fingernails and jewellery to protect the fabric.
  • Do not use sunscreen, oils, or petroleum-based products before putting on the suit as these degrade the fabric.
  • Rinse in cold fresh water immediately after each use. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, iron, or dry-clean.

Frequently Asked Questions — Arena Powerskin Air 3 Women's

Measure your chest (A), waist (B), hip (C) and torso loop (D) using a soft tape measure directly against your skin. Use the Torso Loop as the primary guide and compare all measurements to the sizing table above. If you are unsure whether you need a standard or Long-Torso size, speak to a member of staff at Allens.

If your torso loop measurement is longer than the standard size range but your chest, waist and hip fit the standard size, a Long-Torso (L) size is likely the right choice. Long-Torso sizes are also recommended if standard kneeskins have previously pulled at your shoulders, felt short in the body, or created discomfort through the crotch area. The chest, waist and hip measurements are identical to the standard equivalent — only the torso loop is longer.

If your measurements fall between two sizes, speak to a member of staff at Allens who will be happy to advise. Arena racing suits are designed to fit closely — a correctly fitted suit should feel firm and supportive without restricting breathing or movement.

The Primo is Arena's highest-tier tensoelastic suit, using Hyperforce fabric (220 g/m²) with X-tape construction for maximum compression. The Air 3 uses Carbon shell fabric (113 g/m²) — lighter weight, ultra-flexible, and with a second-skin feel that is more comfortable across a full competition day. The Air 3 is now equipped with leg-lifting construction and FLEXMAX straps previously reserved for the elite tier. Both suits are World Aquatics approved.

FLEXMAX is Arena's new adaptive shoulder strap system introduced with the Air 3. The straps conform to the body, maximising shoulder mobility, reducing strap pressure, and making the suit significantly easier to put on. On previous Air models, the straps were a common point of difficulty — the FLEXMAX design addresses this directly, particularly on long competition days involving multiple events.

Yes — the Arena Powerskin Air 3 is World Aquatics (FINA) approved for use in all sanctioned competitive swimming events. Always verify approval status on the current World Aquatics approved swimwear list before competition, as the list is updated regularly. Speak to a member of staff at Allens if you need further guidance.

Arena racing suits are competition garments and are not designed for regular training use. Using a tech suit for training will degrade the Carbon shell fabric and reduce its performance lifespan significantly. Reserve the Air 3 for competition and race warm-ups. Arena offer a wide range of dedicated training suits for everyday pool use.

Rinse in cold fresh water immediately after every use. Do not leave the wet suit in a bag for extended periods and do not expose to direct sunlight. Hand wash gently with a mild detergent if needed. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, wring, iron, or dry-clean. Lay flat to dry away from direct heat. Avoid contact with sunscreen, oils, and rough pool surfaces.
